PlyCalc is designed to calculate estimates of some mechanical properties of plywood, according to the European Standard prENV 14272:2001 "Wood-based panels - Plywood. Calculation method for some mechanical properties of plywood". The method is restricted to symmetrically composed plywood panels. PlyCalc will let you specify a panel, layer by layer, and then compute estimates of strength values (bending, tension, compression, panel shear and planar shear) and stiffness values (bending, tension, compression, and panel shear), both mean and characteristic. It will also compute the characteristic density. The calculations rely on known basis values for each property of the wood species, that are used in the layers. These basis values are stored in a table, from which the wood species are selected, when composing a panel. The panel compositions are also stored in a table, from which they can be retrieved and edited as needed. The computed results can be printed along with the panel composition, in a predefined format.
